As we head into the new year, I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have supported both our company and the vaping industry as a whole. It’s been a year of signing petitions and standing up for our rights, but if it wasn’t for all of us together, we would not still have the rights that we do.
Looking back, we faced a huge blow when there was a lung illness outbreak stemming from a similar black market product. Again, thanks to all of you who helped spread solid information to anyone and everyone. Whether or not you posted about it online or just kept the record straight in a casual conversation, this is what keeps this industry alive.
Unfortunately, it is looking like flavored pods will be banned, but the law will likely not apply to bottles, which is something to be thankful for. And this is also good news for all of the flavors of eJuice we offer.
There has been good news and bad news, but we are focused now on 2020 and are looking forward to what it may bring.
From all of us here at Fuma, have a very Happy New Year!

In a press briefing, the principal deputy director of the CDC, Dr. Anne Schuchat stated that “these new findings are significant” and “we have a strong culprit.”
And that culprit is… Vitamin E acetate. In a direct quote from the CDC webpage, the findings are made very clear. “Recent CDC laboratory test results of BAL fluid samples from 29 patients submitted to CDC from 10 states found vitamin E acetate in all of the samples.
This does not mean that there should be any cause for concern over taking vitamin E supplements or using vitamin E in skincare products. Vitamin E is only dangerous when inhaled and not used as directed.
This also does not mean that the scare is over. We do not know how many contaminated cartridges were produced on the black market and if they have stopped all supplies. Please exercise caution and do not accept any vaping product from anyone outside of a reputable company.

In a recent interview featured on CNBC, Ex-FDA chief Scott Gottlieb helped to clear up a lot of confusion on the recent vaping “epidemic”
He continues to elaborate on what it is about the THC vapes that are harmful to people’s health and why this illness is occurring.
“It now appears that some of the people who are selling these vapes are mixing oils into them to increase their viscosity because the thickness of the oils is seen as a measurable trait in terms of how potent it is. So they are putting oils in there that shouldn’t be in there and those oils are damaging people's lungs.”
Dr. Gottlieb points to the reports that have come from multiple states on the statistics and where he came to his statements.
“The best analysis we have so far is out of the states of Illinois and Wisconsin which look very closely at the cases that they reported in those states. And fully 80% of those people in those situations had reported vaping THC. You could surmise that there is probably under-reporting. 5 to 10 percent of people don’t want to self-report, especially when they are in throes of an acute illness.”
80% being honest enough to admit to using a THC product actually gives me a lot of faith in this generation, especially considering that a lot of these cases involved minors. In my experience most kids do not like admitting to taking any type of drug.
The former FDA chief points the finger largely at the lack of regulation in the Cannabis/THC industry.
“I think what we need to do is have a federal law that can actually be enforced and allow federal regulatory authorities to impose appropriate supervision. What you have had grow up in these states is basically a wild west of unregulated products and now we are seeing the consequences of that.”
“These tragic illnesses demonstrate the harms that can happen when no one is minding the store.”
He also alludes to the black market that has been growing with the lack of regulation and that we will need federal power to keep these products safe.
Nicotine vapes and eJuice already have more regulation.
Dr. Scott Gottlieb is a well-spoken individual and one of the few out there in the light who have utilized rational thinking rather than taking a reactionary approach to the vaping illness crisis. In this interview, he makes it clear that he personally doesn’t like the idea of recreational cannabis, but puts that aside to find a better solution through proper regulation. Here I strongly agree with him. The Nicotine vaping industry is subjected to very intense FDA restrictions and is constantly monitored.
Later in this at the tail end of the interview, another interviewer a study conducted on mice and tries to use it to demonize vaping once again. Gottlieb is quick to poke holes in this study and mentions other studies that counter this one. This portion of the conversation is ended with Gottlieb stating “I’m skeptical”. He elaborates further saying that he expects vaping to not be 100% risk-free, but his skepticism is not without reason. Scientists warn of bogus animal studies; confirm improved lung health of vaping
A comprehensive study on the possible effects of e-cigarette aerosol emissions confirms that vaping is significantly less harmful to the respiratory system compared to smoking. The research led by Dr. Richard Polosa seemingly aligns with guidance provided by the British Lung Foundation, the UK’s Public Health England, and other experts in the field of tobacco harm reduction.
The new study recently published in July 2019 appears in the medical journal Expert Review of Respiratory Medicine. The findings are newsworthy because of the co-authors’ focus on electronic cigarettes’ possible adverse effects on the lungs, airways, and throat. The scientific community largely agrees that these areas of the human body are the primary targets for potential harm caused by vaping or smoking.
The review paper also attempts to address the rising levels of public confusion surrounding the many health benefits of vaping versus smoking. News reports claiming that e-cigs cause heart attacks, strokes, and even epileptic seizures continue to dominant social media which only exacerbates these public misperceptions further.
Vaping studies involving rodents don’t count
However, the co-authors indicate that many of these so-called “vaping studies” are poorly designed and offer findings that are grossly inaccurate, at best. Many of these less-authoritative papers often involve animal testing, usually mice and rodents, which often lead to misguided claims about e-cigs. The authors warn that animal studies “have limited value” and “are not robust indicators of the potential health risks of using e-cigarette” among adult humans.
Related Article: New study shows vaping has no effect on 'respiratory toxicity' of the lungs
Another common problem with many of these bogus reports, the authors further claim, is that they usually avoid making comparisons of vaping versus smoking in their published conclusions. This failure makes their findings almost impossible to interpret by the average consumer.
For example, many animal studies often suggest that vaping can lead to increased levels of respiratory inflammation, irritation, oxidative stress and impairments of the cardiovascular and immune systems. Unfortunately, the researchers of these less reputable studies rarely translate how the animal’ biometric reactions compare to those of humans.
Vaping, smoking, and the human factor
The Polosa team believes that only research conducted with human test subjects provides the most relevant data, especially regarding the possible effects of vaping on the respiratory tract. The study further confirms that vaping is unlikely to cause significant adverse effects in almost any area of human health. When vapers use the devices properly, under normal use conditions, and by only adult smokers trying to quit, human-tested research indicates many documented health benefits include the following.
Scientists issue dire warning: More vaping industry ‘disruption’ imminent
While the Polosa team’s paper entitled The effect of e-cigarette aerosol emissions on respiratory health: a narrative review once again confirms that vaping is up to 95 percent less harmful than smoking, the co-authors also issue a rather stark warning. As public confusion continues to mount surrounding the health advantages or perceived negative effects of vaping, the amounts of disinformation spreading online is only expected to escalate further in the months to come.
“More disruption will occur. The critical distinction in public health and consumer policy is that of a fastmoving tech innovation that is obsoleting combustible tobacco products. This is likely to bring more disruption among the enemies of innovation and lovers of status quo in tobacco control. This disruption has been already set in motion; more countries will follow the positive developments in Japan, Korea, England, New Zealand, Canada and Iceland that by promoting a widespread and complete adoption of new technologies it is possible to substantially accelerate declines in smoking prevalence.”
The report also acknowledges that very little is known about the long-term effects of vaping on the human respiratory system. The co-authors note that, 'Only large long-range prospective studies of vapers who have never smoked can provide definitive data to demonstrate any potential impacts regular use of vaping products may have on long term health'. For this reason, vaping is only recommended for adult smokers trying to kick the habit. Teenagers and adults who have never smoked should still avoid e-cig usage until adequate research involving adult never smokers can be thoroughly and investigated.

Lithium-ion batteries are an amazing and powerful way to store and transport a large amount of electricity. They can power our phones, laptops, even electric vehicles and YES, the vaporizers we all love. Of course, anything that has loads of energy stored inside can be dangerous. How dangerous? Very dangerous! The good news is that companies like Sony, Panasonic, and LG (to name just a few) go to great lengths to produce reliable and safer batteries for all of us, but how do you know that your batteries are actually from a good company?
"The primary reason for concern over fakes is due to the amp drain capabilities of these batteries."
How fast you can go from
TO
Knock off products have long been a problem in many industries and Li-ion batteries are no exception. Fakes are a problem for both the manufacturer and the consumer, as the companies producing the actual product lose money and the consumer is left with an inferior product. However, there is more on the line with powerful batteries. Fake sunglasses don’t typically burst into flames when used. The primary reason for concern over fakes is due to the amp drain capabilities of these batteries. If your vaping device requires high current, possibly 20 amps, and you buy a battery that is rated to drain 30amps continuously, you are well in the safe zone. If you bought a fake battery, there is a possibility that the manufacturer only produced a battery capable of 10amps but lied and sold it as a 30amp battery with all the markings of a reputable battery company.
"Shop with a company that can be easily held accountable for their actions."
All of this sounds really scary, but it is pretty easy to avoid. The best possible solution is to shop smart. It’s probably best to avoid sites like eBay, where the seller could be anyone. Of course, you can look at the reviews, but the best solution would be to shop with a company that can be easily held accountable for their actions and not anyplace that could disappear into the shadows as soon as a problem arises from a battery that they sold.
Below we have an image of a battery that is mostly composed of filler and a tiny little battery inside. This in no way would be safe to vape.
If you’ve already purchased a battery and you are concerned that it could be a fake, there is no perfect test to ensure your battery is real, but there are a few things you can do to help spot them. One quick test can be to simply weigh the battery. Typically, Li-ion batteries for sub-ohm vape mods should weigh in at around 1.5ounces (45g) and sometimes more. Fakes can weigh as little as half that. While checking weight can help, fake companies are going to great lengths to make convincing fakes so I highly recommend watching this video.
Minding Your mAhs – Ep008 – Detecting fake 18650 Li-Ion batteries
This video was created by Mooch, a blogger on the ECF (electronic cigarette forum) and vaping safety advocate. He’s been writing about this topic for some time and I have learned a lot from him in his videos and the content on his blog. Like other people I will be featuring on this blog, Mooch is someone actively looking to make vaping safer and better for everyone and you can see this with the time and effort he has put into his content. You can check out his blog Here, for great recommendations on batteries and trusted suppliers.
So how can we help the world of vaping?... well, mostly just by shopping better. By doing this we protect the integrity of the industry and help its growth by supporting companies that are providing and researching better tech. Also, it’s a great idea to exercise caution when using any device with a Li-ion battery. whether it’s your vape or even your phone. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines and keep them stored correctly and out of direct sunlight. If you are a DIY vaper and build your own coils, you should always calculate the resistance and make sure it is suitable for the battery. There are countless apps out there for this. Check out Ohm’s Law if you are on an iOS device. This one always got the job done for me.
There is a lot more information out there and I hope that you take some time to look it up. This article is meant as a starting point and mostly directed at newer vapers. ]]>This isn’t going to be a product pushing blog… In fact, I may even change direction with this blog entirely. I would like to write more! And mostly about the positive experiences I have in general with vaping, travel and life. There may be a lot of doom and gloom, but there is always a way to take a situation and make it your own. This is EXACTLY what vaping is all about. We didn’t like the way that traditional tobacco products were and how they made us feel; so we used science and technology to make a better product. From the ground up we built this society. Innovations came not just from companies, but from everyday regular good people experimenting at home. We started new businesses, discovered new ways to enjoy flavors and made a statement that we could compete against huge corporations, all in a very short amount of time.
What I want to remind you (all who are reading this), is why you got involved in the world of eCigarettes to begin with. Nothing this new or different is at first accepted as cool. Like everything else that changes history, it started in the counter culture with the geeks and nerds. All of us are modern rebels of our time, exploring a new activity that will in part define an era. The industry is going through more growing pains now and that sucks, but we are going to make it through and continue to grow. Also, don’t forget to take the time to thoroughly enjoy your vaping experience. I’ll be writing a lot more about this. (you may remember my post about Miami Vice eJuice). Right now I just had the pleasure to twist a fresh new cartridge onto my ecig and I’m loving this moment.
In closing, if you vape Fumã products, thank you for supporting us and allowing us to continue to make the products that we love. And if you don’t, but you are a vaper, thank you for supporting this awesome industry.
Cheers.
]]>By the end of the trip, my largest takeaway was that I should have packed more belts as the weight of this mod plus a bottle or two in my pockets was constantly pulling down my pants. OK, maybe that wasn’t my best takeaway. Maybe Sub-Ohming just isn’t the best type of vape to travel with. While with big clouds comes big flavor and a great satisfaction, the big clouds BLAST through juice, which means you have to refill a lot more. This leaves you vulnerable to running out of supplies or just spending more money.
While my experience is extreme, I feel like a lot of vapors around the world stated to feel that same grind after years of lugging big batteries and bottles around. Is this the writing on the wall for Sub Ohing? No, at least not anytime soon. High wattage devices are still completely unmatched in their flavor capabilities. The experience of vaping one is just too different for it to simply fade away. It’s the modern hookah and still convenient enough to be taken along in the car or, if you really want to it can across the globe; It can be done. However, the light weigh efficient e-cigarettes with cartridges are just a far better alternative for the every day commuter or traveler.
]]>
It had been a while since I went through some of my go-to vapes and I was looking for something a bit different.
Typically, I get stuck in a rut with ejuices. Lately it had been cinnamon and or caramel EVERYTHING! When it’s a rainy inside day, I tend to really like thick and deep tasting eJuice flavors. But now its May and it’s warmer. The rain is backing off and that feeling of summer approaching is everywhere.
It took a total of about 20 seconds looking at the bottles on my office shelf before finding something that caught my eye. The blue label with the bright pink writing seemed like it had sunny warm days written all over it.
Miami Vice it is. I put a new atomizer in and loaded my tank with light amber liquid. I can’t stress enough using a fresh atomizer when you change to a different eJuice. Just knowing you are getting the pure flavor is too good of an experience to skip an extra step.
Immediately after inhale I realized that I had to change locations. I live in the city now, but I have a small balcony where I can feel a gentle breeze and watch my puffy clouds of tropical fruit flavors drift out over other rooftops. For me, having a base with a bit of cream is essential in a vape. Somehow the flavor feels thicker and maybe a bit more relaxing. Miami Vice gives you the fuller body from a rich Pinna Colada, but mixed with a bright Strawberry Daiquiri. It’s not a memory of a beach it’s the idea of a holiday and I intend to enjoy that feeling a lot. Don’t get stuck in a rut like me. Check out some classic favorite selections or maybe something completely new. If you’re feeling that springtime vibe and you haven’t tried Miami Vice, or maybe it’s just been a while, click here to look at some Miami Vice eJuice. You will not be disappointed.

Welcome to the world of Temperature Control or TC vaping. If you have ever used a vaping device, but didn’t like how the cotton burnt when you were low on juice or thought that the hits seemed strange compared to smoking; rocking a temperature control mod might be the style for you.
So what is temperature control vaping?
In most devices, you can increase or decrease the wattage to determine how much power the vape will have when you hit it. With a temperature control mod, like the TC 60, you select the actual temperature that you want the vapor to be in F° or C°.
How does this work?
Different metals respond differently to electricity at different temperatures. Like most vape mods, a TC vape can sense the resistance of the metal inside of the atomizer. At room temperature, the metal will have a different resistance than when it is heated. When you press the fire button on your mod, the atomizer will heat up and then the resistance will change. A TC mod will measure the resistance to determine the correct temperature and then increase or decrease power automatically to maintain your desired temperature. The mod does all the work for you.
What are the advantages of temperature control?
The biggest advantage is fewer burnt hits. When you burn your atomizer because you let the ejuice level get too low, the unpleasant burnt flavor comes from the coil getting too hot without ejuice to keep it cool. A temperature control vape will sense that the atomizer is getting too hot and reduce power before you get that really gross burnt taste. Another big advantage is that you will save money by not burning atomizers so regularly. TC will not eliminate every dry hit but will protect you from really nasty ones, allowing your atomizers to last longer.
Is it difficult to use?
Not at all. There are a few extra steps before you use it, but after that, you can just vape it. When you first put in a new atomizer, the device will read the resistance instantaneously. While the atomizer is still at room temperature, you need to “lock” the resistance. On the TC60, this is done by pressing both the up and down buttons at the same time. Once the resistance is locked, the device now knows what the baseline is. After that, just select what temperature you like and vape away.
What is it like to vape a TC mod?
It feels more like smoking. If you draw really hard on a cigarette, cigar or hookah, more and hotter smoke will come out. On a TC mod, if you take a small puff, you get a smaller and cooler vape. If you inhale really hard, you get a big cloud. A standard vape mod will hit the atomizer with exactly the same amount of power every time you press the button, no matter how much you inhale.
If you are interested in vaping with temperature control, you need to pick up an Aero TC 60. We put a lot of work into this fantastic little device. The temperature reading is extremely accurate, even compared to really large expensive mods. Also, the included tank has specially designed wicking holes to help further prevent atomizer burning.

If you already have a Fuma battery, click the image below to check out the mini tanks.
Happy vaping everyone.
]]>1. Disassembly:
First, you need to remove the base of the tank (the part with the air holes). The base twists off by gripping the textured end and turning counterclockwise. If the tank is full, you can still replace the coil, but you need to hold the tank upside down. The atomizer should be seated in the base.
2. Don’t Slip:
The atomizer will likely be wet with juice, so give it a wipe with a paper towel first so it’s not slippery. The atomizer can then be unscrewed out of the base.
3: Don't Worry:
Sometimes the atomizer will stay threaded to the airflow passageway inside the tank. This makes it harder to remove, but can still be unscrewed. It helps if you have a pair of needle-nose pliers if you also happen to have huge fingers.
3. Don’t overdo it:
Now, all that you need to do is simply twist in a new atomizer into the base. Be careful not to twist it in too hard, as it will be difficult to remove the next time.
4. Prime Time:
It’s a good idea to wet the cotton in the center of the atomizer with a few drops of liquid before putting the tank back together. Doing this helps start the flow of liquid to the coil and prevents dry hits. We call this “priming the atomizer”.
6. Ready to go:
When putting the tank back together, also remember not to tighten up everything with hulk strength. Over tightening can result in cracking the glass or ruining the atomizer.
If you are out of atomizers, you can pick them up here.

With airline security being very tough these days it can be hard to navigate the ever-changing dos and don’ts of air travel. If you are planning to take a trip with your e-cig or vaping device and have never done so before, hopefully this post can help.
OK, let’s get the bad news over with. You can’t vape on the actual plane. There was a brief period in time when you could do this, but since then airlines have enacted policies that strictly forbid vaping on the plane. People do still try and take a trip to the lavatory to sneak a quick vape, but you can absolutely get caught doing this. Usually, this happens because smoke detectors, despite the name, don’t detect actual smoke. They are actually better described as particle detectors and alert the crew via a silent alarm if they trace any abnormalities in the air. This isn’t something you want to be caught doing as it can lead to hefty fines and possible detention… Not a good way to start your vacation. You are best off taking some extra good puffs before you board the flight.
This varies a little from location to location, but mostly the answer to vaping in an airport is YES! In America, this is usually based on local vaping laws. If you can vape indoors in the state you are in, then you can vape in the airport. If you live in an area where indoor vaping is banned, then you will have to look for a smoking section. This is largely unfortunate, as it means you will have to be in an enclosed room while you vape with a lot of actual smoke in the air, but you will be able to find a place to vape somewhere.
When it comes to packing eJuice, the current laws on all liquids applies here. If you are carrying on, the vape juice must be in a bottle 100ml or smaller and then placed in a plastic bag. If you are checking a bag, there are no specific rules, but I recommend still using a plastic bag, as the lack of pressure can cause leaks. This brings me to devices. EMPTY YOUR TANK! It may seem like a good idea to have your vape all primed and ready for your landing, but the lack of pressure in the airplane will likely allow the liquid to drain right into your pocket, which is not only uncomfortable but looks like you had an accident.
Lastly, do NOT check batteries in your baggage. Please carry on all the devices and batteries. There is a strict ban on checking batteries in your luggage.
If you are traveling outside of the US it is important to do proper research as to the local laws on ecigarettes and vaping. There are places that will confiscate your device or even possibly take legal action either in the form of a fine, prison time or both. Below is a list of countries you do not want to bring a vape to.
Argentina
Brazil
Brunei
Cambodia
Egypt
India
Indonesia
Jordan
Lebanon
Oman
Qatar
Malaysia
Mexico
Norway
Panama
Philippines
Singapore
Taiwan
Thailand
Turkey
United Arab Emirates
Vietnam
This may seem a bit gloomy as the list has grown a lot over the years, but the list of vape friendly countries would be far too long to include in this blog. England, for example, is a great place to experience a very welcoming vape culture and London Heathrow airport even allows you to vape all the way up to the gate!
We hope this information helps you with your traveling and you and your vaping device have a fantastic adventure.
From everyone aboard Fumã International, have a safe flight.
]]>Over the years, numerous companies have tried to make an eJuice with natural tobacco. This seemed to a challenge that was never fully answered. The taste was always strange and turned people off, or they were often too hard on atomizers. Even when it’s far easier to produce a product using only artificial flavors there was always a drive to make a product from actual tobacco leaves. For us, the reason was the history of tobacco. There are about seven main types of tobacco with countless traditions and curing techniques for each. The care and perfection of the delicate flavors in the leaf were what we wanted to carry on into the vapor world. We had several hurdles to overcome first though.
No 4 Tobacco
Natural tobacco blended with caramel and vanilla. A light vanilla inhale and a deep exhale with robust, real tobacco accompanied by a subtle nutty sweet caramel tone.
Our classic tobacco is clean, earthy and woodsy with zero ashy taste. Similar to our e-cigarette cartridges.
Reminiscent of pipe tobacco with notes of cigar flavor. Colonial has deep, dark tones of rich full-bodied tobacco sourced from rich tobacco leaves.
]]>
The next step up would be a mod capable of vaping with low resistance atomizers (sub-ohm). These subohm atomizers produce larger clouds of flavor. If you are having trouble sticking with vaping, I really recommend trying a larger device. Fumã offers the Aerocloud 40 watt as a simple solution, with only one button so there is no need to make tweaks or adjustments.
As we wrap up 2018, we look back at a very big year in vaping and Fuma will be looking at our 10 year anniversary coming up YAY! However, rather than focusing on the past, this post is aimed at first time users. It’s a classic time of year to make changes in old habits so I figured I would write out 5 things that really helped me when I switched to vaping.
No buttons, no bulky weight, just simply puff and enjoy.
]]>
There is nothing worse in the vaping world than opening your bag or reaching into your pocket to find that sticky feeling all over your hand. This is probably the biggest and best reason on this list. Even with all the new tech out there, a majority of the systems still have leaking issues. Fuma cartridges don’t leak. I’d like to say that this is a feature that is unique to only Fuma carts, but I have had the pleasure to use numerous products from GreenSmoke, Blu, MarkTen, and Logic. All of them had various pros and cons, but they all passed the leak challenge with flying colors. Unfortunately, GreenSmoke and MarkTen will no longer be producing their cartridge products, but now is a perfect time to pick up a pack of Fuma cartridges.
For more information about the discontinuation you can visit GreenSmoke and MarkTen's websites www.greensmoke.com and www.markten.com
Now you can get a vape in the shape of a chubby credit card or a flash drive, but for hundreds of years, smokes were rounded sticks, be it a cigar or a cigarette. Of course, there have been odd shapes occasionally. I distinctly remember smoking a square-shaped cigar in the past, but there is no obvious advantage to making smoking devices in another shape. Rounded is always just going to feel better, whether you are holding it or vaping on it. Hard edges suck.
Most of these devices are automatic so you can hold it in the corner of your mouth while you’re busy working on something or simply just relaxing. This was my favorite thing about cigarettes. No buttons, no bulky weight, just simply puff and enjoy.
Ok, you should keep it clean, but other than that, there is no rebuilding, no refilling and no swapping out batteries. Best of all, they are lightweight and can handle a lot of abuse. There’s no reason to worry about the cartridge falling off as it’s screwed on. Best of all, if you have a Fuma battery, we also give you a warranty so you don’t have anything to worry about.
How odd that not that long ago, big clouds were all the rage, but now we are back to a more considerate amount of vape. Personally, I’m all for this. As a matter of fact, I’ll probably write the next blog post about the advantages of stealth vaping. Overall though, stealth vaping is less intrusive and is far less likely to have people complaining.
